CHARLIE BRIGGS
Before becoming the clinical director of LCCP, Charlie had a wide range of experience in both the business world and the care sector.Since completing both his degree in Applied Social Sciences and eight years of training and practise in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy, he is currently in Advanced Clinical Training working towards UK Council for Psychotherapy registration and abides by the International Transactional Analysis Association code of professional practice.
He is committed to continuing his professional and personal development and is currently in the middle of an M.A. in Psychotherapy at Leeds University. As part of professional training, psychotherapists have to undergo ongoing therapy themselves. This personal experience has led to significant and lasting change in his own life and was part of the inspiration to set up the Centre, share his knowledge, support and facilitate positive change in other people's lives.
Charlie provides a personal approach towards resolving difficult issues, this together with his commitment to high standards in providing effective psychotherapy creates a good supportive environment for therapeutic change.
HELEN GARNETT
Prior to setting up in private practice in June 2003, Helen was a trained counsellor in the voluntary sector for six years using the principles of Transactional Analysis. Her counselling and psychotherapy work included working with people with addiction issues (including alcohol, drugs and gambling) depression, anxiety, relationship problems, abuse issues, stress, personal growth and people who want to understand themselves better.Helen became interested in psychotherapy whilst working through her own personal issues and seeing from first hand experience, the considerable benefits and improvements in the quality of her own life. She has also seen how psychotherapy and counselling has supported her clients make major changes to their own lives and improve their personal well being.
Helen is committed to her own personal growth and is currently in Advanced Psychotherapy training. She is a member of the Institute of Transactional Analysis and abides by their code of ethics.
KAY COOK
Kay is currently in advanced training in clinical psychotherapy with the Cumbria School of Transactional Analysis, having started her career twelve years ago as a trained voluntary counsellor for an agency that supports people with drug and alcohol issues.Kay has extensive experience in the field of community development and adult education, and has facilitated a range of courses varying from creative writing to parenting skills. She also designs and delivers training courses on personal development and communication skills.
Kay’s approach is simple, down to earth and jargon free, and focuses on enabling you to achieve your goals with support and encouragement; Kay finds that working with individuals or groups to develop their potential and facilitate change is challenging, exciting and fulfilling. Together you can explore issues identify choices, find solutions or experiment with making change in a safe and supportive environment. Her main aim is to help you to understand, appreciate and value yourself.
OTHER PRACTITIONERS
LCCP professionals are either British Association for Counselling accredited trainers, BAC accredited counsellors or Professional training members of the Institute of Transactional Analysis.All LCCP staff attend regular supervision and abide by the code of ethics set by their membership bodies. LCCP aims to provide a high quality service where clients interest and benefits are our focus; together with a commitment to a set of guaranteed service standards which represents best practices, and the use of updated supervised skills as an effective aid to achieving personal growth and development for all clients.
